I established this social enterprise in 2019 with the dual purpose of offering free hot food and drinks to the thousands of rough sleepers in London, as well as providing training and employment for people who have struggled to enter the jobs market.

I am Co-Chair of SME4Labour, which brings together small and medium-sized businesses, and the self-employed, to discuss and support Labour’s policies on the economy and enterprise. We host regular events, a Gala dinner and Excellence Awards to recognise the role of SME leaders within the Labour movement.

In partnership with Just Eat, I am helping to coordinate the delivery of thousands of hot meals to our brave NHS workers during the coronavirus crisis.
As Chair of the British Takeaway Campaign, I support those restaurants and takeaways which are stepping up to feed all the frontline staff working exceptionally hard – often at great personal risk – to keep us safe and save lives.

I am proud to be the publisher of Lambeth Life, a community newspaper for and by the community, which shares incredible stories from across the Borough in which I am a councillor and Mayor. It was set up to bring people together, celebrate the small businesses, community groups and local citizens that contribute so much to the area, whilst also showcasing its amazing local resources, from Lambeth Palace to Brixton box park.

Set up in 2017, this group brings together MPs, activists and members of the Labour movement to fight for progressive reforms to the gambling industry.

I set up Kurdish Progress to provide a space for debate on the interconnected issues for all four parts of Kurdistan and their significance to the UK. Its aim is to highlight the role the Kurdish people play in communities across the country, and also offer a neutral platform for discussion on the future of Kurds and their place in the world.

I am the convener of the annual British Kebab Awards, in association with JUST EAT. This is a space to celebrate and enjoy kebabs in all their forms, as well as recognise the very best kebab takeaways and restaurants in the country. It’s a truly Kebab-ulous evening.

I work hard to give a voice to the amazing kebab sector, speaking up for kebab restaurants and takeaways on a range of issues, from training and employment to supply chain and regulations for small business. I hope to be a champion for the benefits of kebabs – to individual consumers, to local communities and to the wider British economy.

I founded CEFTUS in 2011 to build bridges between the UK and Turkey and the region. Today we provide an open forum to promote debate and knowledge-sharing on foreign affairs, economic issues and social developments in Turkey. We also host an annual community achievement awards to mark the exceptional contribution of the Turkish diaspora in Britain.

I am involved in several campaigns to increase international solidarity between workers here in the UK and those in Turkey and the Kurdistan regions. As part of this, I have organised delegations of representatives from Unite the Union and GMB to visit Turkey, the Kurdistan Region in Iraq and Rojava region in Syria to learn and strengthen bonds.
