Shortly after the last general election I organised a reception with David Miliband for Labour Party members. David spoke to a packed audience about why he thought Labour had lost the last election, what he thought we need to do to win back the public’s trust. The turnout for the event was huge and I was delighted that David was able to find time to talk to us.

I have worked with David on a number of projects in the past, through my work as director of  the Centre for Turkish Studies and as founder of Kurds for Labour. Like many Labour members I was saddened when David decided to leave Parliament earlier this year, but I am sure that he will be a huge success in his new role running the International Rescue Committee. I wish him and his family all the best for the future.
