I have organised a fundraising dinner hosted by SME4Labour to support Durham Miners Gala.
SME4Labour hosted a fundraising dinner for the Friends of Durham Miners’ Gala at Troia Restaurant on Wednesday, 9th May 2018.
The lively dinner attended by many activists, Labour members of parliament and trade unions has raised £5000 which will go directly to supporting Durham Miners Gala (the Big Meeting).
Members of SME4Labour Executive Board were joined by Chairman of Durham Miners’ Association Joseph Whitworth and Secretary of the Association Alan Cummings.
Other distinguished guests included Tim Roache, General Secretary the GMB Union; Dave Ward, General Secretary of the Communication Workers’ Union (CWU); Doug Nicholls, General Secretary of the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU); Mick Whelan, General Secretary of the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF); Simon Dubbins, Director of International & Research at Unite the Union; Labour Party Chairman Ian Lavery MP; Shadow Minister for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Bill Esterson MP; Shadow Secretary of State for Health Jonathan Ashworth MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Tony Lloyd MP; Shadow Minister for Justice Gloria De Piero MP; Jo Stevens MP and Shadow Minister for Education and Children and Families Emma Lewell-Buck MP.
