Like many people in Enfield I often use the train to get into London and since the start of the year I’ve noticed the huge increase in cost. The reason for this is David Cameron’s broken promise on rail fares.

Last year at Conservative Party conference David Cameron promised he would cap rail fares at 1% above inflation and stop train companies from ripping off consumers which huge rises. But he hasn’t kept his word. Instead this year train companies have increased fares by an average of 3.9% – some by as much as 9%.

These huge rises are hitting people hard at a time when the cost of living has rarely been harder to meet. I’m backing Labour’s policy of capping rail fares at 1% and keeping the promise that David Cameron broke.
